Zarlink Semiconductor Inc. today announced it had signed an interoperability and co-marketing agreement with Tollgrade Communications, Inc., a supplier of network service assurance products for the telecom industry.
The two companies plan to develop an offering that will identify, isolate and resolve packet and TDM voice network performance issues.
They said it will target today’s multiservice access nodes (MSANs) and Fiber-To-The-Premise Optical Network Terminals (FTTH ONTs), and provide diagnostic and repair capabilities for emerging voice, data and video services.
Products involved include Zarlink VoiceEdge VE790 Series of integrated voice chip sets, Zarlink LineCare, software that allows network operators to monitor, diagnose and pinpoint potential problems before customers are affected, and Tollgrade line management software.
The latter is designed to provide customer service representatives with accurate analysis of equipment and network conditions.
The first prototype from the two companies is expected to be available next month.
