Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) offers organizations the greatest opportunity for productivity gains, according to results of a new poll released today by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA).
According to CompTIA, 34.2% of respondents chose VoIP while 12% selected call centre applications such as automatic call distributors.
"Organizations that have deployed VoIP networks and other IP-enabled converged services and applications are finding that they can significantly improve their communications, both internally among co-workers and externally with customers and business partners," it said.
"The proprietary architecture of most traditional telephony systems makes it cost-prohibitive for many organizations to add new features. With an IP-based communications network system enhancements are done with software downloads and require minimal new hardware."
CompTIA is a global trade association that represents the business interests of the IT industry.
