TeraGo Networks Inc. today announced the completion of a project for the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) in Winnipeg that will bring fixed wireless broadband service to 1,000 teachers and 15,000 students located in 44 sites
Working with the information technology staff of LRSD, TeraGo completed construction of a private network facility, which includes eight primary OC-3 backbone segments (155Mbps), and 36 dedicated 10Mbps segments for secondary sites. It also delivers high-speed Internet access and a privately managed IP-based system.
The network replicates TeraGo’s current commercial Metro Area Network (MAN) technology and carrier class standards that are currently servicing over a number of Winnipeg-based companies.
As part of a four-year contract, TeraGo will also provide direct access to MERLIN (Manitoba Education Research & Learning Information Networks), a service provider to the education market that offers content filtering services to the schools.
The company currently operates in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario.
