Telus Communications Inc. has developed a wireless field ticketing initiative designed for the oil and gas industry that allows companies to electronically capture crucial operational status and billing information from the field.
Created in partnership with Spira Data Corp., it is designed to provide faster and more accurate billing and improved operational status information coming from the field.
“Field ticketing is predominantly a manual process for many companies, which often means that less than 20% of operational data is actually recorded,” said Jeff Lowe, vice president of oil and gas marketing with the telco’s business solutions division.
“Oilfield supply and service companies can eliminate paper in the field to get paid quicker, eliminate costly re-keying errors and report on every aspect of their field operations. The net result is better company efficiency and improved customer service in a highly competitive industry.”
The service is powered by Spira’s ticketing software application, Spira 4, and leverages Telus’ IT management and infrastructure services and the Telus Mobility network end-to-end field ticketing solution for the industry.
Spira 4 creates automated digital field tickets from wellsite to office for approval to customer in electronic invoice format. It improves invoice accuracy, operational effectiveness and reduces billing time and carrying costs.
