Superior Essex Inc. and Leviton Manufacturing announced today that their NextLAN 10G copper cabling system has been verified to comply with the newly ratified Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) 802.3an 10GBASE-T standard for 10 Gigabit Ethernet transmission over a copper cabling system.
NextLAN 10G was introduced in May 2005 and has been installed into a number of enterprise locations throughout North America.
“The ratification of the IEEE standard is an important milestone as it removes specification uncertainties for the manufacturers of 10GBASE-Tswitches and will likely lead to the commercial availability of electronics within the year,” said Paul Neveux, director of premises cable productmanagement for Superior Essex.
