Motorola Inc. has released a suite of Enterprise Wireless Security Services designed to help ensure network security and also help protect business critical assets.
Recent wireless security vulnerability assessments conducted by the company for its enterprise, telecommunications and government customers reveal that many of the security challenges facing enterprises today originate at the point where wireline and wireless networks converge.
“Security is not something that can be achieved through technology alone,” said Robbie Higgins, managing director of Motorola’s wireless security services division.
“It’s an issue that must be addressed across all facets of an organization’s network environment.”
The services include security assessments, design and implementation consultation, policy development and incident response planning.
Many people believe you can install wireless networks without spending much time on planning and designing the installation,” a Motorola white paper states.
“While these hastily installed wireless networks might perform well enough for basic e-mail and web access, they are not sufficient for large numbers of users, challenging environments like healthcare and retail facilities or more demanding wireless applications such as voice-over Wi-Fi (VoWi-Fi) or high volume financial transactions.”
