MONTREAL — Wireless provider Microcell Telecommunications Inc. has announced it will consolidate the PCS (Personal Communications Services) operations of its two wholly owned subsidiaries, Microcell Connexions Inc. and Microcell Solutions Inc. This consolidation will bring both companies together under the same corporate entity.
“The consolidation of our PCS operations represents the culmination of strategic choices we have made over the last year in order to realign our business priorities with new market realities,” said Andr Tremblay, president and CEO of Microcell Telecommunications Inc. He said the consolidation gives them greater flexibility to operate in the highly competitive wireless communications market.
Alain Rhaume, president and CEO of Microcell PCS, added that the decision to consolidate PCS operations represents a natural evolution of the PCS division, which was created in February 2001.
The positions of president and Chief Operating Officer in both affected subsidiaries will be eliminated as a result of the consolidation.
