A sector roadmap designed to plot a course to expand Canada’s global competitiveness in wireless technologies was unveiled today at the International Conference on Mobile Business 2007.
The document, entitled The Wireless Technology Roadmap, was developed by by the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC).
The report recommends that Canadian technology firms, government and educational institutions concentrate their efforts in three key applications within the wireless sector: backhaul for intelligent transportation systems, wireless platform for mobile multiplayer gaming and wireless Platform for Systems Integration
The applications were selected for their potential economic impact, their contribution to international competitiveness and Canadian capabilities relative to competitors, the ICTC said.
Developed over the past year, the roadmap involved input from over 50 technology companies, nine universities and colleges and 21 research institutes and national industry associations.
