Nexans has opened the doors to its New Holland Competence Center (NHCC), a new research, testing and design facility. The centre joins the company’s worldwide network of 10 R&D sites, all dedicated to the applications of advanced research.
The NHCC will serve Nexans’ Cabling Solutions Product Line (CSPL) globally. The lab is located in New Holland, PA, also home to the headquarters and copper and data cable manufacturing plant of Berk-Tek, a Nexans company.
The centre will focus on three technology areas: design and applications, materials development and production extrusion processes. The NHCC’s laboratory and network test bed allows the mixing and matching of network components under a variety of simulated conditions. The laboratory will differentiate the quality and performance of Nexans’ cabling systems and is equipped to generate and simulate different network protocols and configurations.
Eric Lawrence, LAN cable competence center manager, will oversee the NHCC and coordinate with other Nexans units in the global R&D network. Lawrence Letch will direct the Advanced Materials Development Laboratory in the NHCC, as global materials technology manager.
