Anixter Canada's vice president of marketing elected to a two-year term as Canadian Region Director.
November 1, 2010
Peter Levoy, vice president of marketing for Anixter Canada, has been named the new Canadian Region Director and will serve a two-year term.
As an elected volunteer on BICSI’s board he will depend on you — just as I certainly have — to help him identify what is important to your ITS career and what BICSI can do to help improve the industry on your behalf.
As BICSI works to keep its members up-to-date and educated about the ITS industry, some changes have been made to the amount of continuing education credits (CECs) ESS, NTS, OSP and WD Specialist credential holders receive at BICSI conferences. Given that so many technical presentations have elements beneficial to all credential holders, it is appropriate that CECs proportionate to those awarded to RCDDs and RITPs should also be awarded to Specialist credential holders attending the conference.
ITS Installers and Technicians will still receive conference attendance CECs based on content, but they will also be able to earn extra CECs via concurrent sessions during the conference. Look for this new CEC structure when you receive your Winter Conference Final Announcement.
Regarding training, networking and education in Canada, there are three more Canadian Region Meetings scheduled in Calgary, Ottawa and Mississauga before the end of the year.
I hope to see you at one of these events and introduce you to the new director. Following the Winter Conference, BICSI already has some tentative dates for the first of the 2011 Region Meetings in Canada. They are also working on other events that will benefit Canadians and will be announcing those as soon as they are confirmed.
Additionally, during the first six months of 2011, BICSI training has already been scheduled in Toronto, Montreal and Kelowna. All training sites and details of the courses are available for viewing at www.bicsi.org.
Keep an eye on the Web site and subscribe to BICSI’s e-mail updates to stay informed. Of course, you may also contact your Region Director for more information or for assistance at any time. I can be reached at email@example.com until mid-January, and from that point on you can contact Peter at firstname.lastname@example.org.
It has been an absolute pleasure working with BICSI members and all industry professionals, as well as the Technical Schools in which we have conducted many of our Canadian Region Meetings and BICSI staff members over the past four years.
I look forward to seeing and working with you all again at many future BICSI events. CNS
