Celestica Inc. today released an Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (AdvancedTCA) accelerator, part of its Communications Platforms roadmap.
According to the Toronto based company, its AdvancedTCA AMC processor and carrier card, called Bell Bay, will provide original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the computing and communications sectors with a means of achieving full lifecycle solutions at the lowest total cost and fastest time-to-market.
AdvancedTCA or ATCA (including microTCA) is an open industry standard for computer processor blades, i/o blades, communication blades and chassis that are optimized for carrier-grade telecommunications, enterprise communication and mission critical applications.
Targeted at vendors in the computing and communications infrastructure sectors, the 10GB Ethernet AdvancedTCA AMC Carrier provides telecommunications companies with a means of lowering the product design cycles and achieve full product lifecycle solutions at the lowest total cost and fastest time-to-market.
“AdvancedTCA is delivering considerable benefits to telecom equipment manufacturers, including significant cost reductions in hardware development,” said Paul Barsley, the firm’s vice president of design and engineering services.
“An extension of our design services, Celestica’s AdvancedTCA and roadmapped MicroTCA offering in Wi-Max will cut customers’ development costs and schedules.”
