ADC has introduced the Digivance IMX (Indoor Multi-band Xtender), a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) solution designed specifically to increase mobile network coverage and enhance wireless reception indoors.
The product, which the company unveiled this week at CTIA Wireless 2006, distributes RF signals over coax or optical fiber throughout buildings or campuses such as hospitals, airports, shopping malls and large office buildings.
According to ADC, wireless carriers can eliminate wireless ‘dead zones’ within buildings and offer consistent support for other wireless voice and data services by deploying the Digivance IMX. It also provides a solution for multi-carrier or neutral host applications where an enterprise or organization wants to remain carrier-neutral.
“Although mobile phones are used everywhere, consistent wireless coverage is still a problem within many buildings,” said Hilton Nicholson, president of ADC’s Active Infrastructure Business Unit.
Each sub module is a bi-directional amplifier for one full band of mobile wireless service such as 800 cellular, l900 PCS, 800/900 ESMR, etc. All elements are managed and alarmed locally or remotely.
