Canadian residential service provider 180 Connect Inc. today announced that it has initiated a fiber-to-the-home development for The City of Ontario, Calif.
OntarioNet, a planned network for the City of Ontario’s New Model Colony project, is the largest fiber deployment to a residential community in Southern California.
The fiber-based telecommunications network will provide community related services including traffic management, on-line civic services, educational services and a variety of other services with expected delivery in 2007.
The New Model Colony will have the additional benefit of excess capacity created on the network, providing for advanced voice, video and Internet/data services to homes and businesses, 180 Connect says.
It is expected to consist of 30,000 new homes and two million square feet of commercial and mix use space for over 100,000 new residents working and living in this new urban lifestyle community, nearly doubling Ontario’s population over the next 15 years.
