VMWare Inc.  announced today at VMWorld an expanded relationship with SAP SE, which is said will simplify mobile app delivery for end users through the integration of SAP’s mobile place, part of SAP’s Mobile Secure cloud-based management service, and AirWatch by VMware solutions.

VMware said in a release that organizations continue to shift from simple email configuration on mobile devices to robust application and content delivery to improve end-user effectiveness in the mobile-cloud era.

Plans call for the company to work with SAP in an effort to create standard services to distribute applications through the SAP Mobile Secure portfolio and AirWatch Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) platform. The collaboration is expected to provide a more enhanced experience of applications used for work across corporate-owned, line-of-business and bring your own device (BYOD) scenarios, the two companies said.

The expanded VMware and SAP relationship will enable:

* AirWatch customers to gain access to SAP Mobile Secure

* AirWatch administrators to browse Mobile Place, the SAP Mobile Secure, to select applications relevant to their enterprise, enter company-specific configurations and then distribute the application using AirWatch to selected users

* Users to access mobile place, the SAP Mobile Secure solution to find an application of interest and install the application on AirWatch managed devices without the need to contact IT.
