In response to industry demand, Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) has announced the availability of additional performance testing services to the latest draft of TIA/EIA 568B.2, Addendum 10 (Augmented Cat 6 requirements, including alien measurements).

As a supplement to this new service, UL will also offer performance testing services to the latest draft of Technical Systems Bulletin TSB-155, entitled “Guidelines for the Assessment and Mitigation of Installed Cat 6 Cabling to Support 10GBase-T.”

These guidelines contain additional recommendations to further characterize existing Cat 6 cabling as specified in TIA568B.2-1 for 10GBase-T applications.

The new service offerings include all applicable alien measurements as required by the standard. According to the company, the alien measurements can provide critical performance information for 10GBase-T product testing and deployment.
