Ottawa Internet security company Trend Micro is leading the corporate endpoint server software security sector with an estimated 22.9% market share, according to a recently published report by marketing intelligence firm IDC.

The “Worldwide Endpoint Security 2010-2014 Forecast”, market analysis report identifies server security as a new sub-segment of the endpoint security market.

With shipments of virtualized servers growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14% from 2009 to 2014, IDC expects this robust growth will continue through 2014.

“With data centre consolidation, along with the rise of virtualization, and cloud computing applications, more and more computing power and data itself are moving into data centres and servers,” said Bill McGee, vice-president of Datacenter and Emerging Technologies at Trend Micro.

“It doesn’t matter whether the servers are physical, virtual, inside the corporate data centre, or in the cloud; these servers and, more importantly, the data need to be secure.”
