Transition Networks Inc., a subsidiary of Communications Systems Inc., today released a device server product line of serial-to-Ethernet devices.

According to the company, they allow organizations to integrate existing serial-based devices into their Ethernet networks located in either the office environment or on the factory floor.

They provide either a Fast Ethernet fiber or a 10/100Mbps Ethernet copper interface and come in four models: Industrial grade RS232 to 100Base-FX, Industrial grade RS422/485 to 100Base-FX, Standard RS232/422/485 to 10/100Base-TX and Standard RS232/422/485 to 100Base-FX.

“The ability to network-enable virtually any serial-based device both quickly and cost-effectively allows our customers to preserve their investment in legacy equipment,” said Bill Schultz, vice president of marketing for Transition.
