Total Telcom Fiber Inc. is installing Cisco network switches and Gateway Gigabit Ethernet routers across its existing fiber optic cable network between Edmonton, Alberta and Fort St. John, B.C.

The new electronics will serve to effectively double the capacity and increase the utilization of the firm’s existing Sonet-based network.

"The installation of these next-level electronics will greatly enhance our ability to directly sell bandwidth capacity, internet bandwidth and other developing technical services to end users such as local ISP’s, businesses, industry, government and private users,” said Rick Denis, vice president of network operations at Total Telecom.

The company owns, operates and manages long haul IP broadband fiber optic networks and provides turnkey design, engineering, construction and maintenance services for private networks owned and operated by government and industry.
