The National Associations of Electrical Distributors (NAED) has received a US$250,000 commitment from Thomas & Betts Corp. for its Education & Research Foundation.

"This is not your father’s electrical industry any longer," said Dominic Pileggi, president and CEO of Thomas & Betts. "New and more complicated challenges are facing both distributors and manufacturers every day."

The money will be used to provide industry-specific training. The principal amount of the endowment fund will remain untouched, while the interest will be used to pay for pending educational programs and studies.

Headquartered in Memphis, Tenn., Thomas & Betts produces both connectors and components for electrical markets around the world. Sales last year totaled US$1.3 billion.
