Telus Communications has turned on two new cell towers in Oakbank and Dugald and upgraded 42 existing wireless sites in and around Winnipeg to offer 4G network capacity.

The investment brings new 4G coverage along Highways 1, 7 and 75 and additional coverage in and around Winnipeg and represents a 15% increase in 4G wireless coverage in the province since the first launch in February.

Earlier this year, Telus announced it is investing $22 million in Manitoba to further expand and enhance its 4G wireless services for consumers, businesses and healthcare providers.

As part of this investment, Telus has rolled out HSPA+ Dual Cell technology in Manitoba, which offers speeds up to 42 megabits per second with an expected average of 7-14 megabits per second.
