BEAVERTON, OR — Looking to strengthen its position in the optical component test and measurement arena, Tektronix, Inc. has signed an agreement to acquire German company Profile Optische Systeme GmbH, a leader in this market. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

According to the companies, Profile will be integrated with Tektronix’ optical business, expanding the company’s portfolio of products focused on physical layer testing and “providing the technology building blocks for future optical network test solutions.”

“We are investing in optical communications as a key area for growth in the future,” said Rick Wills, CEO and chairman of Tektronix.

Adalbert Bandemer, CEO and president of Profile said the acquisition would give Profile the resources to leverage its optical expertise into new applications as well as provide an extended global distribution channel for worldwide distribution.
