Test and measurement vendor Tektronix Inc. today announced additional support for China’s Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA) through software options for its WCA200A (Wireless Communication Analyzer).

The enhancement enables designers of TD-SCDMA devices to realize the benefits of Real-Time Spectrum Analysis through standardized, automated one-button tests using the measurement methods and limits found in the TD-SCDMA standard.

TD-SCDMA was developed by the China Academy of Telecommunications Technology (CATT) in collaboration with Datang Mobile and Siemens and proposed as a standard by the China Wireless Telecommunication Standards group (CWTS).

It was also approved by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and has been incorporated by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) within the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) Release Phase 4.

“The TD-SCDMA standard is emerging to be one of the most important in the industry,” said Rick King, a Tektronix spokesman.

Time correlated, multi-domain views of RF information greatly improve the troubleshooting tasks of engineers developing the TD-SCDMA standard, said Zhang Xing Sheng, general manager of Datang’s system test department.
