Sunrise Telecom Inc., a provider of test and measurement products for telecom, wireless and cable networks, today introduced the MTT-30Z Fiber Channel Module, which the company says is the first handheld product to support 1, 2 and 4 Gigabit fiber channel testing with full port login of switch fabric.

The new test set is aimed at service providers provisioning or diagnosing high-performance Storage Area Networks (SAN) in fiber channel, ESCON and FICON.

“Continuous deployment of 4, 8 and 10 Gigabit fiber channel devices and increased customer expectations drive the demand for fiber channel testing and analysis equipment, said Olga Yashkova an industry analyst with Frost & Sullivan.

The MTT-30Z field unit provides traffic generation and measurements to help verify end-to-end transport of fiber channel, ESCON and FICON and to determine throughput and link initialization.

Sunrise, which is headquartered in San Jose, Calif., has a Canadian office in Montreal.
