Sprint Canada, a subsidiary of Call-Net Enterprises Inc., has signed a deal that will see it provide long distance, toll-free and advanced billing management services to Air Canada.

A digital fiber network will link the airline’s eight call centres across North America. The network contains line trunking functionality that distributes traffic between the centres.

Alice Keung, chief information officer at Air Canada, said Sprint’s billing analysis system will provide "us with the necessary strategic business information to help reduce costs significantly, while improving efficiency."

As part of the three-year contract, Time iCR will provide voice recognition software that is designed to eliminate the frustration of the traditional voice mail system.
