SAP AG this week announced that it has validated iOS 7 for applications running on SAP Mobile Platform both on premise and in the cloud, and will further enhance support with upcoming releases of the software development kit (SDK) for its mobile initiatives.

“SAP Global IT supports more than 50,000 iOS devices used by employees worldwide,” said Mike Golz, CIO, SAP Americas. “The enhancements in iOS 7 will allow us to better serve our employees, who rely on more than 60 iOS mobile apps to succeed in their day-to-day jobs on both BYOD and corporate devices. Since the consumerization of IT drives enterprise decisions, Apple’s success in the consumer market will be a key indicator for enterprise adoption.”

The company said in a release that mobile security is about securing three business critical areas: devices, apps and content.

New features in iOS 7 further consolidate the role of mobile device management in protecting enterprises against costly downtime or IP theft, it added.
