Internet infrastructure semiconductor provider PMC-Sierra Inc., headquartered in Burnaby, B.C., and Entropic Communications Inc. today announced they are collaborating to develop an offering for delivering greater than 100 Mbps broadband connectivity to each customer in MSO fiber deployments.
The companies will demonstrate the concept next week during the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Denver, Col.
As the demand for greater bandwidth grows, cable operators are evaluating the advantages of using PON technologies as an efficient method of driving fiber deeper into their networks, the two firms said in a release.
The partnership leverages Entropic’s Access technology deployed in emerging and rapidly growing Ethernet over Coax (EoC).
