PEER 1 Hosting Inc.’s new US$40 million Toronto data centre is officially up and running.

The facility was built in four sections, with each built as a separate Performance Optimized Data Centre (POD), enabling customers to expand their capacity faster and more efficiently, the company said.

Each has the capacity for approximately 270 cabinets, equivalent to roughly 7,500 servers.

The first POD, built at a capital cost of US$10 million, includes 2,285 square metres of data centre space and an additional 2,400 square metres of office space, and inventory, network and storage areas to support the data centre.

The remaining three PODs will be dedicated to additional space and infrastructure to be built out in future phases based upon customer demand.
