Canadian telecom company Roam Mobility plans to launch a new service, which it says is designed to eliminate roaming charges for Canadians travelling into the U.S.

The mobile virtual network operator has entered into an agreement with T-Mobile USA Inc. to provide Canadians travelling into the U.S with local rates for talk, text and data.

“In essence, Canadians can now get American mobility rates and access to a nationwide network, without having to purchase through their Canadian carrier and incur high roaming fees,” said Emir Aboulhosn, CEO of Roam Mobility. “Canadians pay among the highest roaming rates in the world and we’d like to change that.”

The new service will launch on Monday.

“All plans are pre-paid and available in increments ranging from one to 30 days,” the company said. “All talk and text plans are unlimited, and include calls and text messages to the US and Canada starting at $2 per day. Data plans are available in 500 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB and 5 GB increments.”
