NORDX/CDT, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cable Design Technologies (CDT) Corp., and iTRACS Corp. today launched their new Intelligent Cable Management System today at the BICSI Spring Conference in Denver, Col.

IntelliMAC is an ICMS that monitors physical infrastructure and reports all moves, adds and changes (MACs) to a database, allowing the network to be viewed in real-time.

The product is composed of four main components: The IntelliMAC Patch Cords, Patch Panels, Analysers and Analyser (I/O) Cable Assemblies. That integration allows real-time monitoring of the physical network, detecting every move, add and change and logging these events in a central database, that then can take appropriate actions.

In addition to increasing network security and control, IntelliMAC removes the last major limitation in managing a large, modern network, while providing real-time access to 100 per cent accurate data, the companies say.

When combined with the IntelliMAC intelligent hardware, the iTRACS software monitors the network and all attached devices, the network topology in data centers, communications rooms and wiring closets; and automatically detects both authorized and unauthorized changes; utilizes patent-pending technology to quickly pinpoint wiring trouble spots; alerts IT staff to problems via alarms, emails, pages, user-defined scripts and/or photos; and issues work orders or trouble tickets to initiate corrective action.

All iTRACS circuitry is isolated from the network, ensuring that the system does not impact data flow or network performance.
