NEC Corp. today announced its participation in Global MSF (MultiService Forum) Interoperability GMI 2006.

GMI 2006 brings together carriers and vendors to test the interoperability of IMS (IP Multimedia System)-based infrastructure components for the first time in a real world setting. It is also the first global test of IMS service framework. The forum, which runs from Oct. 16-27, will test multi-vendor interoperability necessary for next generation network (NGN) infrastructure.

Upwards of 26 MSF member companies representing leading telecom carriers and vendors have indicated they intend to participate.

Founded in 1998, the MSF is an open-membership organization comprised of the world’s leading telecommunications companies.
