MTS Allstream Inc. today announced that it has acquired all of the issued and outstanding shares of Delphi Solutions Corp. for an estimated $15 million in cash.

Allstream, the national division of Manitoba Telecom Services Inc., said the acquisition is an important step in positioning it to take advantage of the migration of customer networks to converged Internet Protocol technologies.

“It supports our converged services portfolio and enhances our ability to effectively sell new IP-based solutions,” said Bill Fraser, CEO of MTS.

Delphi provides telecommunications products and services to more than 20,000 business and government organizations across Canada, and also has a limited presence in the U.S.

Its customer base consists primarily of mid-sized companies, which Allstream said makes it and an "ideal complement to its focus on the large enterprise segment and strengthening the Company’s position in the mid-market space."

Plans call for the senior management of Delphi to remain with the organization.
