MTS Allstream has expanded its facility-based IP broadband network to Newfoundland, making it the final leg of a coast-to-coast fiber optic network.

The company participated in a consortium led by Persona Communications Corp., now owned by Eastlink, in a fiber optic build stretching from Halifax to St. John’s.

“This achievement marks a significant milestone for MTS Allstream and the people of Newfoundland, and forever changes the landscape of the telecom industry in Atlantic Canada,” said Paul Frizado, chief technology information officer at MTS Allstream. “The door is now open for new services, and more choice for businesses.”
