Optical Ethernet equipment manufacturer Metrobility Optical Systems’ element management system (EMS), NetBeacon ESP, has completed a beta test and is now shipping.

NetBeacon was designed to meet service providers’ need to scale for very large networks, to identify severity of alarms quickly, to route that alarm to the appropriate technician, and to allow strict port-level access control policies system-wide.

Real-time monitoring of line quality, laser power, and equipment temperature and power enable proactive maintenance that can decrease network outages and increase customer uptime.

NetBeacon ESP supports the FCAPS (fault, configuration, accounting, performance, and security) attributes for network management.

Authorized users can manage each Metrobility device from any designated management station to provision services, monitor performance, and respond to alarms.
