The LG-Nortel IP Phone 8500 series of unified communications devices from LG-Nortel made their debut today.

Designed to simplify the way employees communicate, users can access unified communications capabilities such as VoIP, directory dialing, calendar integration, call diversion and presence checking.

The IP Phone 8540 also supports the ability to securely access personal profile information such as contacts, calendars, voice mail and call logs.

Unified communications breaks down the barriers between voice, e-mail, conferencing, video, and instant messaging, ensuring that people always have an appropriate way to reach their peers, said Jae-Ryung Lee, chief executive officer, LG-Nortel.

The launch follows yesterday introduction of Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007, the Redmond, Wash. software giants foray into the unified communications (UC) market.
