Juniper Networks Inc. today announced its next-generation, mid-range, 10 Gigabit-enabled multiservice edge router.

The M120 enables traditional and mobile telecommunications providers, cable operators and large enterprises to more efficiently migrate to next-generation, converged IP business and residential services, the company said in a release.

The platform can be used in a variety of deployments including smaller to medium-sized points of presence (POPs) and central offices; Internet and route reflector applications and backbone routing.

“With the M120, Juniper has delivered today’s multiservice requirements on a new platform upon which carriers can build IPTV and triple play networks, as well as converge older connection-oriented networks,” said Eve Griliches, research manager at IDC.
