Pizza Pizza, the number one pizza delivery chain in Canada, announced today it has deployed Juniper Networks Inc.’s networks intrusion detection and prevention (IDP) and firewall/virtual private network (VPN) products to secure its networked resources across more than 300 restaurants and 3,500 employees throughout Canada.

“It is essential that our networked applications including point of sale and remote security camera surveillance systems are secure and remain in constant operation,” said Dan Vukovich, the chain’s chief operating officer.

Since the more than 350 corporate and franchise outlets share a central ordering telephone number for pizza pickup and delivery, it was imperative for the pizza chain to have a secure and reliable network.

Juniper’s IDP 100 and NetScreen-204 firewall/VPN appliances are deployed at Pizza Pizza’s Toronto headquarters to provide threat and delivery control over data traversing the entire network.

Networks NetScreen-5GT appliances are located at all Ontario Pizza Pizza stores and offer firewall and route-based IPSec VPN access for store managers to upload point of sale data back to corporate headquarters.
