An ITAC- led delegation of 12 ICT companies heads for Parliament Hill Tuesday for a series of meetings designed to underscore the sector’s role as an economic engine.

Karna Gupta, president and CEO of ITAC, says it is important for elected politicians to hear directly from industry leaders as the political parties gear up for a fall election.

“We create a million jobs. We contribute $69.3 million to GDP. We are the private sector leader in R&D, investing more than the auto sector or the pharmaceutical industry,” he says.

“We want the politicians to hear about the issues keeping our leadership awake at night, but more importantly we want to propose solutions to problems that are restraining growth opportunities.”

The day, dubbed DIGITAL DIALOGUE, will focus on the challenges and opportunities in the areas of talent development, transformation and trade. There will be meetings with representatives from all three political parties and a reception in the evening for all MPs, senators and senior bureaucrats.

The ITAC delegation includes large and small, national and multinational firms.
