ORLANDO, FL — At a lavish closing banquet and awards ceremony on January 23, BICSI honoured its own by handing out awards to three industry professionals.
Ron Provost, RCDD, a principal at RGP Consultants in Woodcliff Lake, NJ accepted the Harry J. Pfister Award for his outstanding contribution to the telecom industry. Provost created the governmental relations committee for BICSI, which he chaired until 1993 when he became the organization’s first Government Relations Representative. He will resign that position this year, but will continue on as the Conference Speaker Representative.
Andrew L. Stevens of UK-based CableNet Training Services received the David Blythe/University of Kentucky Distinguished Service Award. Stevens is current Chair of the UK Steering Committee and serves on the Technical Information and Methods (TI&M) Committee to internationalize BICSI manuals.
And Canada’s own Peter Olders, RCDD/LAN/OSP, a principal of Terra Communications in Scarborough, ON and Chair of BICSI’s TI&M Committee, Panel 100, received the Larry Romig Committee Member of the Year award.
But perhaps the most captivating moments of the award ceremony were those honouring the work and accomplishments of outgoing Executive Director, Jay Warmke, who is relocating to Europe to represent the organization abroad. A slide show featuring Warmke was presented, and an award given for his work within BICSI.
