IBM Canada Inc. today announced that the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation , is leveraging IBM Cloud Video’s Clearleap platform to bring what it described as “their next-generation, ad-supported streaming video service to Canadians nationwide.
“The collaboration helps deliver audiences seamless access to their favorite CBC programming, including CBC-TV and digital originals, documentaries and Kids’ CBC across Web, iOS and Android devices.”
The video service features a library of over 600 CBC titles including Dragons’ Den, Heartland, and Murdoch Mysteries.
“Our collaboration with CBC demonstrates the company’s continued commitment to innovation, and to making its content broadly available on every screen, platform and device through an excellent user experience,” said Braxton Jarratt, general manager of the IBM Cloud Video Unit and co-founder of Clearleap.
Created in January 2016, the IBM Cloud Video unit brings consists of IBM’s R&D labs with the cloud video platform capabilities of Clearleap and Ustream.
Through the unit, IBM delivers a portfolio of video services that includes open API development and digital and visual analytics.
“We knew we needed a video platform to support our strategy of building an audience in an aggressively competitive environment,” said Lauris Apse, the network’s director of digital products.
