Horizon Utilities Corp. this week held its annual Energy Savings Champions Awards in Hamilton, Ont. The awards recognized local businesses for implementing innovative energy conservation and demand management projects involving retrofits, lighting fixtures and heating and cooling systems. Among the recipients was the Graybar Canada Hamilton branch, which was named in the Contractor Participant category.
Other winners included Mark’s (formerly Mark’s Work Warehouse) in St. Catharines for Demand Reductions and Agri-Plastics of Stoney Creek in the Energy Savings category. The Most Innovative Project went to property management firm Wilson Blanchard and Johnson Controls. The two combined on a project that is currently saving 190,859 kilowatt hours of energy annually.
Graybar, meanwhile submitted 21 applications resulting in energy savings of 189 kW and 743,521 kWh.
