General Cable Corp. and Panduit Corp. today announced a new alliance and the introduction of the PanGen structured cabling product lines.

As part of the agreement, the two companies will share research and product development and participate in joint marketing and sales programs.

PanGen structured cabling is offered in two copper categories — PanGen Plus for the open-architecture enterprise market and PanGen Pro for the smaller-sized business market.

PanGen Plus systems are offered with Category 5e and Category 6 cables and connectivity products. PanGen Pro provides Category 5e and minimally compliant Category 6 cables.

The two companies are planning to showcase PanGen in late January at the 2005 BICSI Winter Conference in Orlando.
