Fluke Networks Canada today introduced its DSP-PM06 Personality Module for use with the DSP-4300 and OMNIScanner2 cable analyzers.

According to the company, PM06 is the industry’s first test plug to ensure Cat 6 interoperability in addition to compliance.

“While there are many challenges in specifying a Category 6 cabling system, perhaps the most difficult is certifying the interoperability between Category 6 components from different manufacturers,” said Brad Masterson, the company’s product manager.

“Until recently, to get a Cat 6 installation, a user had to purchase connecting hardware and components from a single manufacturer. With the introduction of the PM06, network owners and installers can test and certify that their connecting hardware is Category 6 ‘component compliant,’ no matter which manufacturer’s component they may have chosen.”

The PCB-based, cable-free design of the PM06 complies with all plug specifications of the Cat 6 component standards, but is situated in the center of the performance ranges defined by the standards.

This design ensures that all PM06 modules are identical so that test results will have little or no variability. It supports all UTP, FTP and ScTP cabling systems.

A pair of PM06 plugs for the DSP-4300 or OMNIScanner2 is priced at $258.
