Transition Networks Inc. has released new media converters designed to transmit Gigabit Ethernet signals up to 125 kilometres over single-mode fiber optic cable.

The converters are available as a copper-to-fiber or multi-mode to single mode, with each offered in either standalone or Point System form factors. Features of the 1000Base product line include Auto-Negotiation (both copper and fiber) and AutoCross.

Auto Negotiation allows the converters to advertise their own capabilities to other devices on both the copper and fiber interfaces and automatically configure to the highest or best performance mode of operation.

AutoCross eases installation problems and communication problems are rectified through Link Pass Through.
