Transition Networks Inc. is now shipping the remotely-managed RS-422/485 copper-to-fiber media converters.

Available in chassis-based and standalone versions, they operate in 2-wire and 4-wire mode and support full or half-duplex data transmission at speeds up to 1.25 Mb/s.

Both point-to-point and point-to-multi-point configurations can be supported via copper port options through a DB-9 connector or 6-position terminal block.

By using externally accessible DIP switches rather than internal jumpers, customers have the ability to add termination resistors for impedance matching and biasing the network.

The remote management feature simplifies the gathering of data and the control of devices such as PLC’s, scanners or addressable cameras, the company says.
