TII Network Technologies has brought to market its Digital Closet, a technology portal, network interface and surge protection system designed exclusively for the existing home market.

Digital Closet accesses technology developed by the Home Phoneline Network Alliance (HPNA), which allows computers and other devices to network through a home’s existing telephone wires at speeds up to 10 Mb/s.

Digital Closet is a compact central hub that is professionally installed. The Digital Closet combines high- speed network access via either a DSL or cable modem and an HPNA equipped router enabling a “no new wires” solution to deliver a complete network on the existing telephone lines in the home. The system also includes a protection package that includes whole home surge suppression and network firewall to eliminate the threats of lightning, utility surges and network hackers.
