The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), Arlington, VA, has announced a plan to restructure the organization. The trade association says the move is designed to increase support for its members and create new opportunities in communications and information technology market.

As part of this restructuring, two new departments have been formed within the TIA — the Global Market Development for Network Infrastructure and the Global Market Development for Enterprise (formerly the MultiMedia Telecommunications Association). According to a press statement quoting Matthew J. Flanigan, TIA’s president, both departments will have full committee stature with Board of Directors representation.

Mr. Flanigan also noted that all of the TIA’s policy-related activities will be combined into the External Affairs department.
