Superior TeleCom Inc., through its Superior Essex Communications Group, has announced the availability of its new high-bandwidth TeraGain XT fiber optic cable product line for LAN applications.

The product line is available in both 50 micron and 62.5 micron fiber designs, including simplex, duplex, zipcord, quad, distribution, riser and indoor/outdoor loose tube cable constructions.

The 62.5-micron fiber line is engineered to provide bandwidth of 250 MHz/km at the 850 nanometer (nm) wavelength, and 1200 MHz/km at the 1300 nm wavelength. The performance specifications allow TeraGain XT to support the IEEE 802.3z Gigabit Ethernet standard to distances of 625 metres at 850 nm and 1225 metres at 1300 nm.
