INSTALLATION TRAINING RECEIVES ENDORSEMENT

The BICSI Telecommunications Cabling Installation Training and Registration Program has received warranty certification approval from numerous leaders in the premises cabling components industry. Endorsing the BICSI training program to date are: ADC, Minneapolis, MN; Homaco, Inc., Chicago, IL; Krone, Inc., Denver, CO; Ortronics, Inc., New London, CT; and Elgadphon Communications, Tel-Aviv, Israel.

Those successfully completing the Installer, Level 2 and Technician level training will automatically become Homaco certified. Elgadphon Communications accepts those who have successfully completed all three levels of the BICSI program-Installer, Level 1; Installer, Level 2; and Technician. ADC also accepts proof of registration in all three levels in lieu of the technician training required for the ADC CEV Certification Program.

Ortronics accepts proof of registration in the Installer, Level 2 and Technician level, in lieu of Ortronics Technician training. Ortronics issues an equivalent technician certificate, that can then be applied towards the 30 per cent technician-training requirements all Ortronics certified companies must have and maintain.

The KRONE Certified System Contractor program has mandatory attendance for individuals in approved companies, but the $300 attendance fee is waived for those with BICSI registrations.

MEMBERSHIP LIST SALES BANNED

Effective immediately, BICSI’s Board of Directors has voted to ban the sales of the BICSI membership list. This was done to protect the member’s privacy and to address the concerns of “junk mail” being sent out to the membership.

NEW DISTRICT FORMED

As BICSI continues to expand globally, the latest District was recently announced. Japan has now passed the 100-member mark and became a District on October 20, 2000. Keiji Yamanishi has been appointed District Chair and Kazuo Kato has been appointed District Secretary. Welcome to all of our Japanese BICSI members.

That’s all for this month — see you in Orlando!CS

Greg Porter, RCDD is Region 5 Director of BICSI and Business Development Manager for Tyco Electronics Canada Ltd., Markham, ON.
