Toronto-based Riptide Networks Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Riptide Communications (2000) Inc., has announced that it has completed the registration process for becoming a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC). The company is now on the list of registered CLECs published by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC).

Riptide says it plans to use advanced digital subscriber line (DSL) technology to enable Internet service providers (ISPs), applications service providers (ASPs), carriers and others to offer high-speed service to small and medium-sized businesses.
