SPRINT CANADA MAKES SENIOR APPOINTMENTS

Sprint Canada Inc., Toronto has announced two new executive appointments.

Duncan McEwan has been appointed president and COO. Most recently CEO of NorthPoint Canada, Mr. McEwan has extensive experience in the communications sector, including a past position as president and CEO of Canadian Satellite Communications.

Greg McCamus will assume the position of president, Enterprise Communications Solutions. Mr. McCamus, who was most recently Senior VP, New Product Development, at Sprint Canada, brings over 15 years of experience in the competitive telecom business to his new position.

AT&T CANADA NAMES TWO EXECUTIVES

AT&T Canada Inc., Toronto, has named Stewart A. Berry as its new Executive VP of Marketing, Mr. Berry is responsible for channel marketing, product development and management, branding, advertising and promotion. Mr. Berry was, most recently, executive VP of Marketing and Sales at BCI Commcor.

Henry C. Yip has also joined AT&T Canada as Executive VP of Network Services. Mr. Yip is responsible for all network operations, in addition to managing the company’s network data architecture and databases. Mr. Yip comes to his position from TELUS Corp., where he held a variety of executive positions.

CANADA PAYPHONE APPOINTS PRESIDENT AND CEO

Norman Osatuik has become the new president and CEO of Vancouver’s Canada Payphone Corp.

Mr. Osatuik brings more than 25 years of experience in the telecom industry to his new position. Most recently, he served as GM and VP of Business Development at Great Canadian Gaming Corp. He has also served in an operational and sales capacity for both BC Telecom and AGT, and as a VP of Nortel Networks.

SCTE NAMES MEMBER OF THE YEAR

The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), Exton, PA has awarded Rudy Niznansky its 2001 Member of the Year Award. The award recognizes a member who has made significant contributions to the organization through active involvement in its programs and efforts.

In addition to increasing SCTE participation and membership, Mr. Niznansky is credited with supporting industry certification and encouraging others into leadership positions.

Mr. Niznansky is marketing manager, broadcast test and measurement, for the U.S. subsidiary of German company Rohde & Schwarz.

FLUKE IN CANADA EXPANDS SALES TEAM

Fluke Networks in Canada, Mississauga, ON has announced the expansion of its Canadian sales team to increase sales and support for its products in Canada.

Tracey Izsak, Eugene Suarez and Marco Helie have all come on board as technical sales representatives. Ronald Groulx has joined the company as a technical support specialist.

OPTICAL CABLE EXPANDS CANADIAN SALES TEAM

Optical Cable Corp. of Roanoke, VA has announced the addition of two new members to its Canadian sales team.

Vince Bartolacci joins the company as Area Sales Manager for Quebec and the Maritime provinces. Carl Lalone comes on board as Area Sales manager for Alberta and British Columbia. Both Mr. Bartolacci and Mr. Lalonde have extensive backgrounds in data communications and distribution sales.

AT&T GLOBAL NETWORK SERVICES ENLARGES TEAM

AT&T Global Network Services has announced key appointments to its Toronto and Montreal offices.

Anthony Cina joins the company in Toronto as Product Manager for Business Internet Services. Previously, Mr. Cina worked for IDC Canada, providing consulting services to the high-tech and telecom industry.

Teresa Aysan has been appointed Managed Data Network Services (MDNS) Product Manager. Ms. Aysan joined the company’s Toronto office in January as the Billing Manager.

Mohammed Akoodie brings more than 20 years of consulting and analysis experience to his new position as Market Intelligence Analyst at the company’s Toronto office.

Pierre Chauvot joins the Montreal office as Account Manager. Mr. Chauvot comes to the company from AT&T Global Network Services in France.
